It’s obvious to almost anybody who was watched a YouTube trailer movie that online Video is one of the most powerful and persuasive forces online. Movies is used to entertain, inform, to demonstrate, prove or disprove a theory and as a means of clarifying a complex issue. The old saying that “a picture speaks a thousand words” has never been more true than it is today.

Just like the rest of the Internet online Video has gone through all the usual stages of development to such an extent that now anybody with even the minimal amount of knowledge is perfectly capable of putting up a screen capture movie on a webpage.

You Tube however is only one aspect of the Online video Phenomenon. It’s true that since Google purchased YouTube in 2006 for the enormous sum of $1.6 billion, and poured a Ton of resources into the project that online video has really exploded as a medium online.

Watch the video below.

Online Video – YouTube plugins for WordPress

Perhaps the easiest method of getting a video into a blog post is to simply go to YouTube and take the video code and insert it into your post. If only it was that simple, well actually it almost is.

In order to you to pull YouTube video into your blog post you need a special plug-in called Smart YouTube. The plug-in is installed and activated it simply a matter of putting the right code into your post along with the YouTube code for that video and you’re all set. The plug-in itself is free and it doesn’t cost a thing to download a video from YouTube or to use the coding to embed the Online Video. So perhaps the simplest method for getting Online Video onto your blog is to take one from YouTube that happens to be relevant to the subject you’re blogging about and to use that.

Why you Need Video on Your blog

Video has a separate class when it comes to Google and its indexing algorithm. In other words Google values video over the written word. Google also loves the blogging platform especially WordPress. So A video hosted on a wordpress blog has more value and is ranked higher which will result in a better chance that your video will be listed in the search engines.

In terms of your readers, Video is a visual tool and some people prefer watching over reading. So if you have a written post and a video that shows the intent of the written word then you are catering for a wider audience and making the post available to more people. Which of course leads to more viewers and more potential customers.

Other video Plugins

there are lots of plugins that are designed to help with Video hosting. Some of the more popular ones are below.

1. WordPress video Plugin

2. Embedded video

3. Flash Video Player

If you need anymore options for hosting video on your wordpress blog then check out wordpress.org where you can find a bazillion options for any plugin they have in their repository

Blog Security Starts With A Secure Install https://ryanjlima.com/blogging/blog-security-starts-with-a-secure-install/ https://ryanjlima.com/blogging/blog-security-starts-with-a-secure-install/#respond Mon, 23 Sep 2024 03:23:21 +0000 https://ryanjlima.com/?p=80 Blog Security – Why its Important

Blog Security is not all it could be right out of the gate. This is primarily because the WordPress software is an open sources development. So thousands of coders are always working behind the scenes to improve the structure and functionality of the software. Add to that mix the functionality brought about by the Plugins, Widgets and themes that are available for WordPress and what you have is a very complex and interactive platform.

That platform must be able to conduct internal coding functions to work correctly and that means there must be complex permissions set inside the software to make that interaction seamless. What this really means is that in order for your blog software to work with all the various add-ons they must be able to talk to each other without having to go through security loops that take up valuable time and server resources. So your Blog Security, whilst good could be so much better

So today I will show you one of the simplest ways to secure your blog right from the install.

Blog Security IS Built in

So WordPress is configured with a set of Blog Security features that are left to the individual installer to configure, if they actually understand how to do that. Buried deeply within the WordPress website at WordPress.org are a set of Blog Security instructions that it takes a degree in hieroglyphics just to comprehend. Which for most bloggers is simply beyond their technical capabilities. Blog Security should be simpler, but its not.

Blog Security – Securing Your Database

During the installation you are required to provide administrative details such as passwords user-names and a database as part of the installation. This is the first (and Only) Blog Security configuration needed to get your blog live online. Your database is then used to store all the details of your blog. Think of the Database as the filing cabinet for your blog, where your post, videos, plug-in your themes and all the other details are stored for your installation.

In reality all of those details are stored in a special file in the root folder of your blog called Config.php which is created by WordPress during the install. Part of that file also contains additional Blog Security components that are not required during the install. It’s up to you as the installer to determine if you want to make use of these additional security feature or not. WordPress does not advise you either way.

These additional Blog Security measures are referred to by WordPress as security keys. In total there are actually eight sets of keys that you can use within your config.php file each of which has a new layer of security to your installation and the whole process can take as little as 2 minutes to implement.

If you take the time with Blog Security right from the start then you are making the chances of your blog being hacked harder and harder than 99% of other blogs out there. Make Blog Security a priority in your business!

How To Measure Your Website Speed https://ryanjlima.com/blogging/how-to-measure-your-website-speed/ https://ryanjlima.com/blogging/how-to-measure-your-website-speed/#respond Mon, 23 Sep 2024 03:21:27 +0000 https://ryanjlima.com/?p=78 Website Speed is rapidly becoming one of the most important factors for increasing your page rank. Website Speed is a measure of how fast or slow your website or blog takes to load is now a factor considered by the mighty Google and of course that means the other search engines too.

Website Speed – Why This Matters

Does your website or blog take a long time to load in Firefox, Chrome, Safari , Is its  performance not at it’s best? How quickly does the page load? Do you even know. Is it sluggish and slow and kind of annoying………? If the answer to those questions is yes then you should take notice because if you find you website or blog is slow to load then so do your visitors who are looking for Information and don’t generally display a lot of patience. More importantly the mighty Google is watching your Website Speed and its costing you…..

Back in April of 2010 Google added a new requirement to its algorithm for its Page Rank score; Website speed. Which means if your website or blog is Slooooow to load then you are losing ground to your more savvy competitors. They profit whilst you lose Money and have to spend time you don’t have trying to figure out what’s wrong.

Read more about Website Speed and page speeds here In Google’s own words.

Your website’s performance is one of the key factors Google measures to make sure that the visitors that it sends to your website or blog are having a “good experience” when they visit. Particularly as that pertains to your Website speed, so its worth it, in my humble opinion, to spend a little time optimizing your website or blog to Increase your Website Speed. However there is a problem…………how the hell do you measure your Website speed, which is essentially measuring how long it takes for your Blog to load.

How To Measure Your Website Speed

Now a word of caution here, Before you go diving into an optimization frenzy I would recommend that you measure your current Website Speed performance and find out exactly what is going on with your website or blog before you take any actions that could do more harm than good. Its important to measure first and then act second…….Do the opposite and you run a high risk of totally screwing your website or blog and then it may never load at all.

My favorite way of measuring my sites performance is a free service at Gtmetrix. There are also free services at Pingdom tools The video above explains how GT metrix works and how to make use of its many features. Both of these FREE services are very powerful and that must be used with caution. Make a single adjustment and re-measure the page to see what that has done to the page load speed. Some changes may have the opposite effect.

All in all don’t make adjustments for the sake of it, only make adjustments that are measured and have a positive effect on your Website Speed or blog load times .

So once you have completed your Website Speed Test you can now go ahead and find out what’s slowing it down and fix it. There is of course a couple of plugins that will take care of 95% of the common issues that slow your site down. To find out what I use and How to optimize these effectively read this post;

Why Blogging Is An Education In Itself https://ryanjlima.com/blogging/why-blogging-is-an-education-in-itself/ https://ryanjlima.com/blogging/why-blogging-is-an-education-in-itself/#respond Mon, 23 Sep 2024 03:19:29 +0000 https://ryanjlima.com/?p=76 Blogging as an Education ??

In 2007 I decided I wanted to pass on some of my Worldly knowledge to the wider community that was growing in the ever expanding universe of cyber space.

Blogging appeared to be the way to go and like most who make that decision I was full of optimism and believed that I could teach someone, anyone, something that would make their life simpler, more rewarding or just plain old better in some minuscule way. What ended up happening was the realization that in order to teach, I first had to learn. The world of the web was a complete mystery, full of potential pitfalls and sharks that were willing to strip me bare for their own ends.

It was akin to the frontier days of the the Wild wild west only guns were not necessary in order to conduct a highway robbery.

For every gap in my knowledge of Blogging I identified there were 50 people who had JUST the solution for $47, or $97 and even higher.

Fortunately or perhaps unfortunately one of the lessons I was to learn very quickly was their solution was based upon techniques or solutions and it was, so their solution was in fact NO solution. I also learned that web pages back then stayed up for years, so as long as suckers bought they remained nets cast in electron waters waiting for the next minnow to get snared. Most of the information programs available then were trash 10 page e-books that left more questions than they answered. Some were genuinely helpful but in a single dimension. The whole picture was just not available in a single solution.

Blogging is a technical challenge

I wish I had fully understood the technical challenges that were ahead, before I had ever decided to go and explore the murky waters of the Internet Marketing world and Blogging in general.

Just as most fledgling business owners will attest, when I started my first blog I had no idea how difficult it was to simply go put some words on a “virtual webpage” and how to begin the arduous task of making the doubtless Millions of people searching for that info, aware of its existence.

As it turns out getting a post up was perhaps the simplest challenge I was to face, there were much bigger challenges ahead, most of which I had never encountered before. Like the language of the web. As in Life there were many languages “spoken” on a web page. HTML, Javascript, J-Query, Flash and so on. I had never heard of WordPress and had no clue just what it could do or even what FTP was. The more I think about it the more I realize how unprepared I was for the adventure ahead. the real trouble was that despite my growing knowledge there was so much still to learn. Overcoming challenges was almost a daily business, and to some extent that remains true even today, 5 years on.

At that point I had not considered the pace of advancements that would render a lot of those initial challenges mute, only to replace one challenge with another equally complex challenge. In truth the world of cyber space is a self perpetual world of renewal. which if you consider this for just a minute, you realise that’s life in the 21st century. Companies the world over survive by renewing an old idea and replacing that 5 year old Ford Model t with a newer (no less capable) and better (slightly more fuel efficient) model than its predecessor. Online marketing is like traditional marketing, in that there are a Million corner stores eking out a living from the downtrodden masses out there all looking for their keys to the mansion house. Whilst the Multinational or national BRANDs dominate the shopping Mall. There are also an online elite referred to as “Guru’s who make a killing 2 or 3 times a year with their version of the Model t. Faster, better simpler.

When I first started in 2007 I was a total void when it come to anything to do with websites. I had never heard of WordPress, HTML was another language I would never master and I was never going to be taken for a ride by anyone. Yet, here we are some 5 years later with my unconventional education behind me and my professional development seminars still ahead and YES i have bought more junk than a scrap yard in my pursuit of that all important golden highway. I have had a lot of success and a few dismal failures along the way.

I have been educated, and its now my time to reciprocate and try to educate those who follow. So if you read this, understand one thing; I have chewed the same grass you chew on now. I have spent the time, money and dark winters nights huddled up to a 5 year old clapped out laptop on a journey of discovery. I ask nothing from you but to hear my wisdom. What you do thereafter is your damn fault.

Blogging

is an education. I hope you learn well and prosper as I have from what you read here. Blogging is a lot of fun, but its also not for everyone. So, that’s my take on my Blogging education, have something to say – Leave a comment.

What is article marketing? https://ryanjlima.com/blogging/what-is-article-marketing/ https://ryanjlima.com/blogging/what-is-article-marketing/#respond Mon, 23 Sep 2024 03:11:31 +0000 https://ryanjlima.com/?p=72 Article marketing is often referred to as “affiliate article marketing” because it is so popular with internet affiliate marketers. Article marketing is an internet business practice that is used mostly by marketing affiliates, but is also used by online businesses to promote all kinds of products, mlm, and direct sales.

article-marketing-template

Article marketing as a concept is quite simple:

1. You write articles that include a link to your website or to an affiliate page

2. You submit articles to free online article directories (free-press-release, prlog, goarticles, etc..)

3. People read your articles online and click the link to visit your website

4. Once at your website (or affiliate page) your readers purchase the item you are promoting and you earn commission.

Article marketing can also be used as a vehicle to send visitors (also known as “traffic”) to websites or blogs which contain classified advertisements. In this case you will get paid a small amount by the advertisers each time a visitor clicks on one of the advertisements. The actual amount depends upon the popularity of the keywords in the ad. These ads are called pay per click advertisements (usually referred to as “PPC”). The most popular source of these ads is Google “Adsense” but there are other companies who run PPC advertising as well. (MSN, YAHOO)

how-to-structure-a-how-to-article-for-blog

Another valid aspect of affiliate article marketing is the writing of articles to use as content on your own websites or blogs. If your websites or blogs contain daily fresh unique content, they are more likely to achieve higher rankings in search engine results. This content should be written daily (if possible), but no less than 3 times per week. If you are not a good writer, then find a quality article writing company or individual to write for you. You can also purchase article writing and submission software like “Article Marketing Robot.”

To capture the full power of article marketing, affiliates (or other online business owners) should write articles for their own websites or blogs as well as submitting articles to online article directories and posting their articles on various “Web 2.0″ or social media sites (facebook, twitter, etc..) to form what is called a “link wheel”

Article marketing has many advantages for internet marketers, and for affiliate marketers looking to promote their products or services online. Here are a few of those advantages:

1. Article marketing is free

2. Article marketing is simple

3. Anyone can do article marketing (if you can’t write your own articles, you can use a ghost writer)

4. Article marketing is entirely legitimate.

The increasing popularity of article marketing is mainly due to the fact that it is free. It is also popular because it works so effectively to generate highly targeted leads. Employing article marketing techniques can result in generating daily income from home for absolutely 100% free.

The most successful marketers use a combination of free and paid for tools and resources to generate leads. You have probably heard the old saying “less is more”, but on the internet more is definitely more: the more you promote your affiliate products, the more you will earn. You can definitely acheive success at making money online using free tools and resources, but you can increase your profits exponentially by investing in good marketing tools.

5 Ways to Grow E-mail List Fast! https://ryanjlima.com/affiliate-marketing/5-ways-to-grow-e-mail-list-fast/ https://ryanjlima.com/affiliate-marketing/5-ways-to-grow-e-mail-list-fast/#respond Mon, 23 Sep 2024 03:10:18 +0000 https://ryanjlima.com/?p=70 Growing a large opt-in e-mail list is key to the success of your business and your blog.

You can use it to cultivate relationships with your readers, build brand loyalty, promote your products or services, and grow your affiliate and ad revenue. Just like with any other aspect of growing your blog, targeted marketing efforts are required for effectively growing your opt-in e-mail list. Here are 5 easy ways to help you grow your list quickly:

Provide Multiple Options for Sign-Up

Not every visitor will come to your blog on the home page or another designated landing page. Perhaps they will find you through a link to a specific post, or by searching for terms that lead to another page on your blog.

Make it easy for these new readers to sign up for your e-mail list by including a pop-up option that appears on each page at first visit. If you don’t like the pop-up option, you can include a permalink on your sidebar, header, or footer. The key is to make sure the option is accessible to readers no matter how they arrive at your blog.

printable-doc-email-marketing-calendar-example

printable-doc-email-marketing-example

Include Link in E-mails

Promote your e-mail list among your own contacts by including a link to it in your e-mail signature line. It provides an easy, low-pressure way for your contacts to sign up for the list or to share it with their own contacts.

Be sure to also include the link in your e-mail newsletter so that your subscribers can forward it to others for easy sign up. The more options you make available to people to sign up for the list, the more likely you are to get new subscribers.

Promote It on Social Networks

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social networks offer effective ways to connect with new customers and subscribers. Be sure to include a link to both your blog and your e-mail list in your profiles on every social-networking site to which you belong.

Then promote the link in your tweets, posts, and other shares. Be sure to share the link regularly, but not to share it so much that your connections start to view it as spam.

Offer Special Incentives

Providing added value for your readers will give them a reason to sign up for your e-mail list.

There are many ways to offer this, depending on the types of goods or services your blog offers, including free shipping, discounts on products or services, or other special promotions.

The key is to make sure these offers are exclusive to your e-mail subscribers and are not offered to just any reader of your blog. Otherwise, there is no incentive to sign up for the e-mail list to get them.

Offer Exclusive Content

Another great way to offer your customers added value for joining your e-mail list is to provide exclusive content. A free e-book or e-learning course is a great way to encourage your readers to sign up for your e-mail list. Be sure to offer new content or to rotate content so that your readers will be encouraged to remain subscribers.

Once they have finished the e-book or the course, they may no longer find a reason to remain subscribers. Keep providing exclusive content to maintain that relationship.

Growing your opt-in e-mail list should be a key part of your overall marketing strategy for your blog. It allows you to build relationships with your readers and to grow a list of customer contacts to promote your services and products.

Following these steps will help you grow your list more quickly.

What is an Affiliate Marketer https://ryanjlima.com/affiliate-marketing/what-is-an-affiliate-marketer/ https://ryanjlima.com/affiliate-marketing/what-is-an-affiliate-marketer/#respond Mon, 23 Sep 2024 03:06:13 +0000 https://ryanjlima.com/?p=66

As an “affiliate marketer,” your job is to sent traffic to the landing page, squeeze page or sales page of the product that you are promoting.

Wikipedia defines an affiliate marketing as:

Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.

The industry has four core players: the merchant (also known as ‘retailer’ or ‘brand’), the network (that contains offers for the affiliate to choose from and also takes care of the payments), the publisher (also known as ‘the affiliate’), and the customer.

Alternatively you can also sent your traffic to your own squeeze page and collect email addresses before sending traffic to the affiliate link/ sales page.

An example of a Squeeze Page I currently use is here: “Make 7K + Per MONTH Online”

The great thing about affiliate marketing is that  you do not need to sell anything.

This is great because if you are new and do not have a product you simple drive traffic to your affiliate links and get paid when someone buys through your special unique affiliate link.

Affiliate Commissions….

Affiliate commissions can be earned per lead and per sale depending on the commission structure of the product or service you are promoting as an affiliate.

I HIGHLY recommend using a squeeze page to collect subscribers to market to later on in your business.

You can also use services like AWEBER to add subscribers to your email lists and have auto responder messages go out on autopilot every day.

Affiliate Marketing can be difficult and there is a learning curve if you are a complete newbie. There are many skill set you need to learn and understand to get the most out of your affiliate marketing business.

Also, before you get started with affiliate marketing you need to understand that “Affiliate Marketing” is a Business and must be treated as such.

You need to take it really serious if you want long term success.

Take the next step and download the e-book to get started today.

Build Your SEO Strategy https://ryanjlima.com/seo/build-your-seo-strategy/ https://ryanjlima.com/seo/build-your-seo-strategy/#respond Sat, 21 Sep 2024 16:46:11 +0000 https://ryanjlima.com/?p=64 Three Crucial Elements Needed to Build Your SEO Strategy Upon!

If you ask any SEO professional to explain what are the steps needed to build an effective organic optimization strategy, you are definitely going to get different answers. However, there are mainly three crucial elements which you need to implement to build your successful SEO Strategy.

In this blog-post, “Three Crucial Elements Needed to Build Your SEO Strategy Upon,” I will be focusing on what I believe are the three most crucial necessities, which are keyword-rich text, site architecture/page layout, and link development!

Breaking down the three crucial elements:

* Keyword-rich text:

Your pages in your site must contain keywords and keyword phrases that target your niche/audience to obtain best results for search engine rankings. Furthermore, you need to place your keywords and keyword phrases strategically so they are prominent on the pages as well. If you omit this step, your pages aren’t going to convert very well and not going to receive very much in the form of organic search engine traffic!

* Site architecture/page layout:

In order to obtain an effective SEO strategy, you are going to need a very strong foundation to build it upon. Sites that are laid out well and easy to navigate through for people and search engines, are a must! Avoid, over using flash and java, which tends to clutter up your pages and distracts your readers.

* Link development:

Your link campaign should be targeted towards other sites, which are closely related to your site niche/topic. Don’t fall prey for the big pitch on the Internet that the more links you have, the better off your are! Avoid, becoming a link hound. It is about quality links, not quality! If your site contains content that is interesting and deems helpful, people will be more willing to link to your site naturally. However, don’t forget that the more unique your content and site are, the more reason you give people to visit it and to keep coming back!

Conclusion:

While many people will deem that one or more elements are more important than the others, I tend to believe that you should treat them equally to strengthen your SEO strategy! As I have stated before on this blog, that effective optimization is built collectively brick by brick.

Think collectively. Alos, don’t resort to unethical black hat SEO strategies to attempt to exploit the search engines.
