5 Ways To Keep In Touch And Build An Email List

Building an email list needs more than just collecting email addresses. If it were that simple, then everyone’s email list would be enormous. But, people will unsubscribe when they’ve got their initial incentive. So, to build an email list, you need to retain the people who’ve joined and created a lasting relationship, by offering them regular and useful ideas and information.

Keeping in touch regularly in this way keeps your list interested in you and your product, as well as building trust and confidence. That’s the way to long term sales. It’s a two-way thing, you give away your knowledge and, at the right time for them, your list will buy what they need from you.

So, here are 5 ways you can use to keep in touch with your email list. Which ones are you using right now?

1.  Newsletters

Email newsletter and is probably the most common regular communication offered to subscribers. It’s easy to produce and, if you want to, it’s relatively easy to set up templates that will make it appear much more attractive than a regular email.

Newsletters are usually published monthly, bi-weekly or weekly and contain information relevant to your niche, so the content’s aimed directly at your list signups and their interest in the niche.

Every 7-10 days is a recommended newsletters interval, and regularity is important in creating the long term relationship. So this requires commitment on your part, but it does pay off.

2.  Automated Newsletters

This makes sure that you get the best use out of each publication, by setting them up as autoresponders. By putting your newsletters as a series of auto responders, each person will get the same newsletters in the same order, whenever they join your list.

Now, obviously, if you’re including any information about products or services within the series, then this is an excellent way to make sure that everyone receives that information. But, in order to make sense, each newsletter needs to be evergreen. That way, the series can just keep growing, and to someone joining in two years, the information will be just as relevant as it is now.

3.  Mini-Courses

With a mini course, you provide your list with information on a specific topic spread over a set number of days. So, “how to ………… in seven easy steps”, would be a one week mini course.

Again, you’ll probably want everyone who joins to receive this, so set it up in the auto responder series. A mini course can often be used as a great medium for introducing a product, especially one which solves a particular problem or meets a particular need that’s highlighted in the course .

4.  Tutorials, Reviews, and Tips

You can send out quick, easy to read hints and tips updates, daily, weekly or monthly. These need to be useful hints and tips related to your niche and can be either general tips in an auto responder series, or specific one-off tips relating to some current event in the market.

Remember, people will always value what you send them, if it saves them time, money or frustration.

5.  Update List

With an update list, you simply ask your web visitors to leave their email address so you can update them, as and when you have something to share. This is probably the most simple contact strategy of them all.  It’s quick, simple and straight to the point. And, it’s up to you when or how often you email.

However, it’s unlikely to build as successful relationship as the other methods, depending on the frequency and regularity with which you contact your list.

So, whichever method you choose, as always,  you have to implement it to get results, so put the time into your weekly schedule and start now.
